Three Deer

$8,580.00

78” x 55”

Acrylic & spray paint on canvas, 2022

Three shooting deer, darting and dashing, appear startled by the headlights. Night time in a mysterious landscape, we see light from neon cactus up ahead.

One of the largest paintings of its era and the longest to complete (2018-2021). Exhibited at Parnell Gallery, New Zealand 2021.

The source images used for this work of blurry black & white photographs of deer, I discovered after I’d finished the painting, were in fact some of photo histories first ever flash photography of moving animals. As a lifelong photography acolyte this pleases me greatly.
